Dhaka shares rose for the fifth day on Monday, with the key index hitting a nearly 41-month high as investors increased their share purchases in anticipation of better gains.

The DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, jumped 0.92%, or 56.00 points, to close at 6,125.41 points on Monday.

Monday’s index was the highest after January 30, 2018, when it stood at 6,127.80 points.

The DSEX has gained 111.65 points in the last five sessions.

Market cap on the DSE hit an all-time high, hitting 5.13 lakh crore Tk on Monday.

The market started with a bullish mood early in the day and continued through the end of the session as investors opted for massive selloffs amid optimism.

Investors were mostly active with stocks of textiles, banking and nonbank financial institutions that day.

Out of 58 textile companies, 56 advanced, only one declined and one remained unchanged while out of 31 banks, 25 advanced, three declined and three remained unchanged.

Among the large capitalized companies, stock prices of British American Tobacco, Beacon Pharmaceuticals, IFIC Bank and BRAC Bank rose on that day.

Average share prices of textiles, non-bank financial institutions, banks and pharmaceuticals rose 5.3 percent, 1.82 percent, 1.8 percent and 0.9 percent respectively.

EBL Securities in its daily market commentary said: “The dominance of buying over large capped sectors, namely banks, NBFIs and textiles, has accelerated the uptrend as insurance stocks surge. observed immense selling pressure on the stock market today (Monday).

Of the 366 scripts traded on the DSE on Monday, 224 advanced, 119 declined and 29 remained unchanged.

Investors recorded profits for insurance companies after a sharp rise in company stock prices in recent weeks.

Trading in shares of Paper Processing and Packaging Limited, Monno Fabrics Limited, Bangladesh Monospool Paper Manufacturing Co Limited and Tamijuddin Textile Mills Limited again began at the DSE Main Board on June 13 as the companies went out of their way to will. market.

The stock prices of the four companies hit the upper breaker limit for the seventh day on Monday.

DSE revenue rose to Tk 2,043.48 crore on Monday from Tk 1,835.25 crore in the previous session.

DS30, a composition of 30 large-cap companies, also added 0.61%, or 13.59 points, to close at 2,220.89 points on Monday.

The DSES Sharia Index rose 0.69%, or 8.97 points, to 1,305.57 points.

BEXIMCO topped the turnover chart with shares valued at Tk 111.94 crore changing hands that day.

Malek Spinning Mills, National Feed Mills, Maksons Spinning, Fortune Shoes, BBS Cables, NRBC Bank, Orion Pharmaceuticals, SK Trims and National Polymer were the other top revenue leaders for the day.
