SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Scranton salon had to shut down its downtown area after a water main burst in the middle of the night.

Owner Rosey DeAntona told Eyewitness News it happened around midnight Monday. Firefighters and police were called to RD hair salon and brushing bar on Penn Avenue when the water main broke.

As you can see in the player video above, water is pouring from the ceiling in their back room lounge. The manager told us that when she arrived at the salon on Monday evening, the entire floor from the back room to the front door was covered in water and the back room stairs were “like a waterfall”.

Staff thank the police and fire department for doing a great job shutting off the water and cleaning up the mess.

The salon suffered a loss on some products and will be closed for at least another day while cleaning and drying efforts are underway.

Water could be seen raining through a ceiling light two weeks ago when a water heater above RD hair salon and brushing bar started to leak.

Just 2 weeks ago a water heater above their living room broke causing water to fall down their hallway connecting the front and back living rooms. RD Hair Salon and Blow Dry has two additional locations that have not been touched.
